Expands the definition of "autism spectrum disorder" to include diagnoses meeting criteria in the DSM-5 or later editions, while continuing to recognize prior diagnoses of autism, Asperger's syndrome, or Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified made under earlier DSM editions

Removes the requirement that an autism diagnosis must be made before a child's 10th birthday to qualify for coverage under health benefit plans

Eliminates the $36,000 annual cap on coverage for applied behavior analysis (ABA) treatment for enrollees 10 years of age or older

Prohibits health benefit plans from limiting coverage for autism spectrum disorder treatment benefits based on age

Applies to health benefit plans delivered, issued, or renewed on or after January 1, 2026, with the act taking effect September 1, 2025
