Health and Human Services Commission must conduct a study evaluating the prevalence of psychoactive or psychotropic medication use among persons who died by suicide in Texas

Study will analyze autopsy reports, toxicology reports, police reports, and other information from suicide cases in counties with populations of 450,000 or more, covering January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2022

For medication users, the study must evaluate duration of medication use, specific medications taken, evidence of withdrawal symptoms, and duration of any withdrawal symptoms

For non-medication users, the study must examine evidence of recent medication discontinuation and withdrawal symptoms

Written report with study results due to the governor, lieutenant governor, and speaker of the house by October 1, 2025, and will be a public record
