The 89th Texas Legislature expresses support for strengthening the partnership between Texas and Taiwan, celebrating the 46th anniversary of the Taiwan Relations Act (1979) and the 37th anniversary of the Texas-Taiwan sister-state relationship (established 1988)

U.S.-Taiwan trade reached $158.6 billion in 2024, with Taiwan ranking as the 6th-largest U.S. agricultural export market and 7th-largest merchandise trading partner; Texas-Taiwan two-way trade exceeded $25.5 billion in 2024

The resolution commends Governor Greg Abbott for efforts to strengthen bilateral trade and investment relations, including opening the State of Texas Taiwan Office in Taiwan

Taiwan is recognized as a leader in information and communications technology, semiconductors, biotechnology, smart machinery, and energy technology, and as a partner promoting democratic values
