Commemorates the dedication of St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church in Greenwood, Texas, which was dedicated by Bishop Michael J. Sis of the Diocese of San Angelo on March 16, 2024

The Greenwood Catholic Community was established in 2018, initially holding Sunday services at Greenwood Elementary School before constructing their own building

The church was named in 2020 for Saint Rita of Cascia (1381-1457), patron saint of impossible causes, who also inspired the name of West Texas's first oil well, Santa Rita No. 1

Ground breaking for the new church occurred on September 17, 2022, on a six-acre property that includes the site of the earliest school in Greenwood

The 89th Texas Legislature extends best wishes to the clergy and parishioners and directs that an official copy of the resolution be prepared for the church
