Designates Newton County as the official Forest Capital of Texas for a 10-year period from the date of passage

Newton County encompasses part of the Sabine National Forest, one of only four national forests in Texas, and provides access to the Big Thicket National Preserve

The county features the Sabine River along its eastern border with Louisiana and Toledo Bend Reservoir, recognized as one of the best bass fishing lakes in the nation

The designation recognizes the county's outdoor recreation opportunities including hiking, bird-watching, hunting, camping, canoeing, fishing, boating, and swimming

The designation expires on the 10th anniversary of the resolution's passage, pursuant to Section 391.003(e) of the Government Code
