Designation remains in effect for 10 years from the date the resolution is finally passed by the legislature, per Section 391.003(e), Government Code

Recognizes Amarillo's role as a center for ranch rodeos, which feature working ranch hands rather than professional rodeo athletes and draw tens of thousands of spectators annually

Highlights major ranch rodeo events held in Amarillo, including the World Championship Ranch Rodeo finals, Tri-State Ranch Rodeo, Will Rogers Range Riders Rodeo, Coors Cowboy Club Ranch Rodeo, and West Texas Ranch Rodeo

Acknowledges the Texas Panhandle's ranching heritage dating to the late 1800s, including historic ranches such as the JA Ranch (1876), XIT Ranch (1885), and Frying Pan Ranch (1880s)
