Shane Downing is retiring as superintendent of Holland Independent School District in 2025 after more than 25 years with the district

Downing began at Holland ISD in 1999 as a teacher and coach, became principal of Holland Elementary School in 2004 for 15 years, and was unanimously elected superintendent in January 2019

He holds a bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and a master's degree in educational administration from Tarleton State University, having started his education career in 1992 at Bruceville-Eddy school district

The Texas House of Representatives formally congratulates Downing on his retirement and directs that an official copy of the resolution be prepared for him
