Congratulates The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley chess team for becoming co-champions of the 2025 President's Cup tournament held April 5-6 in Dallas, tying Webster University with a total score of 7 points

UTRGV qualified for the President's Cup by winning the Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Championship in January with a perfect 6-0 record, the only team among 91 competing squads to achieve a flawless performance

The team entered the President's Cup ranked fourth but rallied in the final round against UT Dallas after 2-2 draws with Webster University and Saint Louis University

Team members included grandmasters Gleb Dudin, Shawn Rodrigue-Lemieux, and Jose Cardoso Cardoso, and international masters Jakub Fus and Ekin Baris Ozenir, coached by grandmaster Bartek Macieja

Marks UTRGV's fourth national title in seven years, adding to three consecutive wins beginning in 2018
