Texas House of Representatives commends Chef Johnny Hernandez for his contributions to San Antonio's culinary scene and community

Chef Hernandez founded True Flavors Catering in 1994, established La Gloria restaurant in 2010, and leads Grupo La Gloria, which includes multiple restaurants such as Botanero Lounge, Burgerteca, and Tortilleria La Gloria

Helped establish San Antonio's Culinary Task Force in 2015 and secure the city's designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy in 2017

Founded Kitchen Campus nonprofit to encourage students in culinary arts, secured a $250,000 grant for La Villita Arts Market improvements, and commissioned a 38.5-foot Catrina statue (tallest in the U.S.)

Organizes the nation's largest Día de los Muertos festival and river parade (established 2019) and hosted the 15th annual Paella Challenge in March 2025 to mentor high school culinary students
