Alfrelynn J. Roberts was elected president of the National Association of Negro Musicians in 2024 after serving a decade as national vice president and as national convention director

Roberts has held leadership positions at Portland Opera (director of artistic planning and operations) and Fort Worth Opera (interim general director, chorus master, associate artistic director), and has led the South Dallas Concert Choir for 10 seasons

She has taught music at high school and college levels, including serving Texas Wesleyan University as adjunct voice professor, associate artistic director, and chorus master

Roberts holds a bachelor's degree in vocal music performance from Hampton University and a master's degree from Northwestern University; she is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the American Guild of Musical Artists

The Texas House of Representatives congratulates Roberts on her election and extends best wishes for a successful tenure leading the organization dedicated to preserving and advocating for music of Black Americans
