Congratulates Lisa McWashington of Galena Park for graduating from the Texas Partners in Policymaking Class of 2025

Texas Partners in Policymaking is a seven-month leadership training program organized by the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities that empowers adults with developmental disabilities and their families to advocate for policy change

McWashington participated as both a self-advocate and parent, completing a capstone initiative advocating for individuals with addiction histories or criminal records from more than 10 years ago to serve as guardians for people with disabilities

Her capstone project draws from personal experience raising her daughter Ashley and promotes a rehabilitative approach to guardianship decisions
