Texas Legislative Internship Program was established by State Senator Rodney Ellis in December 1990 and is administered by the Mickey Leland Center on Hunger, Poverty and World Peace at Texas Southern University

Program provides Texas college and university students with internship opportunities in the Texas Legislature, state agencies, and local government while earning academic credit

Interns gain firsthand knowledge of governmental processes, work experience in political environments, and insight into community and state issues
