Luis Soto, a senior at Americas High School in Socorro Independent School District, served as a legislative intern in State Representative Mary E. González's office during the 89th Texas Legislature

Intern responsibilities included drafting resolutions and memos and analyzing local and global news

Soto is a member of the Libertas Academy program (focused on law, government, and public administration), serves as captain of the cheer and flags teams, and has completed more than 30 college credit hours while enrolled in three AP classes

Community involvement includes serving on Congresswoman Veronica Escobar's Congressional Youth Advisory Council and volunteering with El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank and El Paso Villa Maria transitional women's shelter
