Gail "Big Boy" Hester is retiring as owner of Hester's Auto and Body after more than 60 years, having opened the shop in 1960 at age 22 in Round Rock, Texas

His annual fundraising fishing trip (since 1987) and Christmas party have raised more than $400,000 for the Round Rock Chamber, YMCA, and local charities

Received the Round Rock Chamber Lifetime Achievement award in 2009, and his family was named Local Legends by the city in 2002; an annual small business award bears his name

Helped bring the Round Rock Express Triple-A baseball team to the city; in 2024, the city renamed a baseball field in Memorial Park to "Big Boy Hester Family Field" in his honor

The Texas House of Representatives congratulates him on his retirement and directs that an official copy of the resolution be prepared for him
