John W. Galloway III is retiring in 2025 from Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville after 65 years with the family business, which was founded by his grandfather in 1919

Galloway joined the funeral home in 1960, initially ran ambulance services, and took over the company in 1974 after his father's retirement; he also purchased Three Rivers Funeral Home and Beeville Memorial Park

Served as mayor of Beeville from 1972 to 1981, contributing to development of the city swimming pool, Beeville Municipal Airport, and new city hall

Held leadership roles with United Way, American Red Cross, and Scouting America, and was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to the Nueces River Authority

Recognized twice as Bee County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year, and the Beeville Economic Development office was named in his honor
