SHAIP, established in 2012, provides full-time internship opportunities where students earn academic credit while gaining experience in state governance

2025 interns placed in offices of State Representatives Will Metcalf, J.M. Lozano, Armando Martinez, Senfronia Thompson, and Suleman Lalani, as well as Governor Greg Abbott's Legislative Affairs Office and the Texas Association of Counties

Program is directed by Mike Yawn of Sam Houston State University's Center for Law, Engagement, and Politics
