Organization was established when Texas contractors met at the St. Anthony Hotel in San Antonio in November 1924 and received a charter from the Associated General Contractors of America

More than 700 member companies are responsible for over 90 percent of all highway construction in Texas, plus water, sewer systems, and utility plants

Organization currently led by CEO Jennifer Woodard and advocates for state highway funding, workplace safety, and professional standards
