Texas House of Representatives congratulates Assistant Chief of Police Dr. Coby Pewitt on his retirement from the Richardson Police Department on March 31, 2025, after more than 28 years in law enforcement

Dr. Pewitt joined the Richardson Police Department in 1996 and rose through the ranks from detective to sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and assistant chief, earning Rookie of the Year in 1998 and Detective of the Year in 2002

Holds three degrees: bachelor's in business administration from University of North Texas, MBA from UT Dallas, and doctorate in public affairs from UT Dallas; also graduated from FBI National Academy and other leadership programs

Served as adjunct faculty member at multiple Texas universities and serves as president of the Advisory Council for the Boys and Girls Club of Richardson and volunteers for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
