Resolution honors Leonardo "Flaco" Jiménez, born in San Antonio in 1939, for his exceptional contributions to Texas music as a Tejano accordionist, vocalist, and songwriter

Jiménez began performing at age 7 with his father Santiago Jiménez Sr., formed his band Los Caporales at 15, and became a Texas legend by the early 1960s

Career highlights include playing on Dwight Yoakam's #1 country hit "Streets of Bakersfield" (1988), the Rolling Stones' Voodoo Lounge album (1994), and performing with supergroups Texas Tornados and Los Super Seven

Awards include five Grammy Awards, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship, Texas State Musician designation, and inductions into the National Hispanic Hall of Fame and NYC International Latin Music Hall of Fame
