Texas House of Representatives commemorates the 75th anniversary of the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) on June 5, 2025

TTI was established in 1950 as the Texas Transportation Institute to support the Texas Highway Department in partnership with Texas A&M, with early research focusing on pavement materials, bridge structures, and road base stabilization

Safety research led to development of guardrails and cable median barriers later approved by the Federal Highway Administration; the first Urban Mobility Report analyzing traffic congestion was published in 1987

Currently employs more than 700 professionals, students, and support staff, with approximately $125 million in research expenditures, over 700 annual projects, and more than 200 public and private sponsors
