Blue Star Mothers of America was founded on February 1, 1942, in Flint, Michigan, when 300 mothers held their first meeting, and received its congressional charter in 1960

BSMA is a nonpartisan, nonpolitical, and nonsectarian organization open to mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, foster mothers, and female legal guardians of active military members or veterans

Texas has at least 10 chapters among the more than 200 BSMA chapters nationwide representing thousands of military families

Members ship care packages to deployed personnel overseas, visit hospitalized veterans, assist veterans organizations, and honor fallen service members
