Commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) in 2025

The PUCT was established on June 2, 1975, through the Public Utility Regulatory Act signed by Governor Dolph Briscoe, with its first open meeting held September 2, 1975

The agency regulates public water, sewer, electric, and telephone services, and oversees the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), which operates the only electric grid wholly contained within a single state

The PUCT's current responsibilities include enforcing electric grid reliability requirements, managing investor-owned utility rates, and coordinating emergency preparation and response efforts

Adopted by the Texas House of Representatives on May 23, 2025, by non-record vote, expressing appreciation to all PUCT personnel for their public service
