Texas House of Representatives congratulates Dolores Huerta on her 95th birthday on April 10, 2025

Huerta cofounded the Stockton, California chapter of the Community Services Organization in 1955 and partnered with Cesar Chavez in 1962 to establish the National Farm Workers Association, which later became the United Farm Workers

Led the 1965-1970 grape workers' strike that resulted in unemployment benefits, health care benefits, and reduced pesticide use for farmworkers

Helped secure passage of the Agricultural Labor Relations Act of 1975, the first law recognizing collective bargaining rights for farmworkers

Used the $100,000 Puffin/Nation Prize for Creative Citizenship (2002) to create the Dolores Huerta Foundation, which trains individuals in low-income communities in organizing skills
