Texas House of Representatives pays tribute to Malania Watson Butler of Houston, who passed away on March 21, 2025, at age 75

Mrs. Butler worked as a sales representative at Dillard's and retired as an accounting clerk for Sears; she was an advocate for labor unions and attended several AFL-CIO conventions

She volunteered as a receptionist at Riceville Mount Olive Baptist Church and participated in voter registration drives, voter education sessions, and Get Out the Vote rallies

She is survived by her husband James Junior Butler (married August 2002), two children, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren

The resolution was unanimously adopted by a rising vote on May 23, 2025, with the House adjourning in her memory
