Madisyn Karkosky, a sophomore at Temple High School, won the Precision Metal contest championship at the SkillsUSA Texas State Leadership and Skills Conference held in Corpus Christi from April 2-5, 2025

The competition required using blueprints to produce shapes with specified tolerances and dimensions using manual mill and lathe equipment, plus completing three in-person assessments on calculations, measurements, and machinery knowledge

Karkosky plans to pursue a manual machinist certificate, complete an internship at local machine company MTC during her senior year, and pursue a college degree and career in machinery and welding

The Texas House of Representatives officially congratulates Karkosky and directs that an official copy of the resolution be prepared for her

Resolution was adopted by the House on May 23, 2025, by a non-record vote
