Recognizes April 23, 2025, as Legal Defense Fund Advocacy Day in Texas

Honors the NAACP Legal Defense Fund (LDF), founded in 1940 by Thurgood Marshall, the first Black U.S. Supreme Court justice; LDF became an independent organization in 1957

Acknowledges LDF's landmark legal victories including Smith v. Allwright (1944), which eliminated whites-only primaries in Texas, and Brown v. Board of Education (1954), which ended school segregation

Notes LDF's ongoing work in voting rights, education equity, economic justice, and criminal justice reform, as well as efforts to restore voting protections after Shelby County v. Holder (2013)

Directs an official copy of the resolution be prepared for the Legal Defense Fund as an expression of high regard from the Texas House of Representatives
