Texas House of Representatives honors Dr. Francis H. Wright Jr. of San Antonio for his service as chair of the Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force, which concluded in December 2024

Dr. Wright was appointed to the task force by the governor in 2019 and named chair in 2021, coordinating Texas's plan for prevention, screening, diagnosis, and management of chronic kidney disease

Over a 40+ year career, Dr. Wright performed more than 3,000 transplants and served as medical director of Transplant Care Consultants and founding director of organ transplantation at the Texas Transplant Institute

Dr. Wright contributed to national transplant policy through the United Network for Organ Sharing and served as president of both the South-Eastern Organ Procurement Foundation and the American Foundation for Donation and Transplantation
