Served on the National Breast Cancer Coalition board of directors for two decades, became Texas field coordinator in 1997, and represented the organization at the White House

Helped establish the Patient Advocate Program at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium and served on advisory boards for the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and NIH breast cancer research initiatives

Resolution unanimously adopted by rising vote on May 23, 2025, with the House adjourning in her memory
