Reduces the maximum required preservice training hours for potential foster or adoptive caregivers from 35 hours to 20 hours before they can be verified or approved

Establishes a new annual training requirement of up to 10 hours for caregivers prior to license renewal, covering subjects related to daily foster parenting experiences and the needs of children in care

Training content must be relevant to the caregiver's license type or the specific needs of children placed with them

Foster parents who waive their daily reimbursement rate for foster care services are exempt from the 10-hour annual training requirement, though they may still be required to complete up to 5 hours of training based on the unique needs of children in their care

Effective date is September 1, 2025
