Recreational harvest reports submitted to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department covering game animals, game birds, fur-bearing animals, nongame animals, alligators, and fish are exempt from public disclosure under the Texas Public Information Act (Chapter 552, Government Code)

Specific harvest location information, including photographs that could identify where wildlife was taken, is protected from disclosure

Department may share harvest report information with federal or state law enforcement agencies only upon receipt of a lawfully issued subpoena

Statistical data and compilations may be released publicly only if they do not identify the person who submitted the report, the harvester, or the specific harvest location

Department may disclose full report information to the individual named in the report, other governmental bodies for governmental purposes, or contracted research entities that sign nondisclosure agreements

Department and its employees have civil immunity for unintentional violations; effective date is September 1, 2025
