Requires attorneys employed or engaged to assist public officials or governmental bodies with open meetings law responsibilities to complete mandatory training within 10 days of being hired or engaged

Requires attorneys assisting with public information law responsibilities to complete mandatory training within 10 days of being hired or engaged

Prohibits governmental bodies from compensating outside attorneys for time spent completing the required training, though employee attorneys may be compensated

Eliminates the provision allowing public officials to designate a public information coordinator to satisfy the training requirements in place of the public official, requiring officials themselves to complete training

Establishes October 1, 2025 deadline for attorneys currently assisting with open meetings or public information matters to complete training, and January 1, 2026 deadline for public officials who previously relied on coordinator designations

Takes effect September 1, 2025
