Requires counties with a population over one million to establish and maintain an office of medical examiner, lowering the previous threshold from 2.5 million

Permits counties with a population under one million to optionally establish and maintain a medical examiner's office

Allows two or more counties, regardless of population size, to enter agreements creating multi-county medical examiner districts that jointly operate and maintain a medical examiner's office

Requires multi-county medical examiner districts to include entire areas of all participating counties and form a continuous geographic area

Takes effect September 1, 2025
