Creates a new criminal offense for acquiring a firearm with intent to deliver it to a person the acquirer knows is prohibited from possessing firearms under state or federal law (commonly known as "straw purchasing")

Classifies the new straw purchasing offense as a state jail felony, which carries a penalty of 180 days to 2 years in a state jail facility

Amends Section 46.06 of the Texas Penal Code to expand the title from "Unlawful Transfer of Certain Weapons" to "Unlawful Transfer or Acquisition of Certain Weapons"

Applies only to offenses committed on or after September 1, 2025, with prior offenses governed by existing law
