Elevates burglary of a place of worship from a state jail felony to a second-degree felony, placing it on par with burglary of a habitation

Creates a new first-degree felony classification for burglary of a place of worship when the offender entered with intent to commit a felony other than theft, or committed or attempted to commit such a felony

Amends Section 30.02 of the Texas Penal Code by adding places of worship to existing enhanced penalty provisions

Applies only to offenses committed on or after the effective date, with prior offenses governed by former law

Takes effect September 1, 2025
