Increases the criminal penalty for official oppression from a Class A misdemeanor to a second degree felony when a peace officer causes bodily injury or threatens imminent bodily injury and either causes serious bodily injury or uses/exhibits a deadly weapon

Maintains the existing third degree felony penalty for public servants who intentionally impair the accuracy of data reported to the Texas Education Agency through the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS)

Allows prosecutors to charge offenders under both the official oppression statute and any other applicable section of the Penal Code for the same conduct

Applies only to offenses committed on or after September 1, 2025; prior offenses remain governed by existing law
