TX SB2013

Authorizes physicians specializing in ophthalmology to dispense nonsystemic dangerous drugs to their patients for ophthalmic use in drop or ointment form

Allows ophthalmologists to charge and receive reimbursement for stocking, storing, and labeling dispensed ophthalmic drugs without obtaining a pharmacy license under Chapter 558

Requires ophthalmologists who dispense drugs under this provision to comply with applicable labeling, packaging, and recordkeeping provisions for that class of drugs

Amends multiple sections of the Occupations Code to add this new dispensing authority as an exception to restrictions on physicians operating pharmacies

Takes effect immediately with a two-thirds vote of both chambers, otherwise becomes effective September 1, 2025
