Health and Human Services Commission must establish a work group to study the feasibility of implementing a statewide or regional acute psychiatric bed registry to track available beds at inpatient mental health facilities

Work group membership includes representatives from Texas Hospital Association, Texas Medical Association, Texas Nurses Association, technology experts, a psychiatrist, a licensed professional counselor, substance use treatment facility staff, and hospital representatives from rural, urban, and large county areas

Report due to legislative committees by November 1, 2027, must evaluate bed registry effectiveness, recommend ways to increase public awareness, assess financial incentives for data entry, and analyze hospital reimbursement impacts on bed availability

Work group will elect its own presiding officer and meet periodically at the presiding officer's call

Act takes effect September 1, 2025, and the work group automatically dissolves November 1, 2028
