School districts currently participating in the Rural Pathway Excellence Partnership (R-PEP) program may continue participating regardless of changes in student enrollment or average daily attendance

Districts must adopt a school calendar with at least 175 instructional days or five instructional days per week for the majority of the school year to receive R-PEP funding allotments

Districts that exceed 1,600 students in enrollment may receive funding for up to 110% of the number of qualifying students from the year before crossing that enrollment threshold

R-PEP partnerships must offer at least one qualifying program of study: computer programming/software development, cybersecurity, or skilled trades including plumbing, electrical, welding, diesel/heavy equipment, aviation maintenance, or applied agricultural engineering

The commissioner may waive the school calendar requirement for the 2025-2026 school year if a district demonstrates compliance for 2026-2027; the program of study requirement takes effect September 1, 2027
