State Board of Education members would receive compensation and expense reimbursement at the same rate as state legislators, as provided by Section 24, Article III of the Texas Constitution (currently $7,200 annual salary plus per diem)

State Board of Education members would be added to the elected class of the Employees Retirement System of Texas, alongside statewide elected officials, legislators, and district attorneys

For retirement benefit calculations, State Board of Education members' accumulated account balances would be computed as if based on a district judge's state base salary

Service performed by current State Board of Education members before September 1, 2025 would not be creditable toward retirement benefits in the system

The Employees Retirement System, State Board of Education, and potentially the Texas Education Agency must enter into a memorandum of understanding to implement member contribution collection and other administrative matters
