Applies to counties with a population of more than 250,000

Authorizes commissioners courts in qualifying counties to abolish the office of a purchasing agent appointed under existing law (Section 262.011) by order

Allows commissioners courts to employ a person to act as county purchasing agent under Section 262.0115 after abolishing the appointed position

Purchasing agents whose offices are abolished may have their terms expire on a date specified in the order and remain eligible to be employed as county purchasing agents under the new structure

Takes effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds vote in both legislative chambers, otherwise September 1, 2025
