Nueces County Hospital District board must establish and administer a grant program for hospitals located within the district to recruit and retain physicians

Grants may be used to retain current physicians, recruit specialists in fields with limited access in the district, and increase residency positions at district hospitals

The hospital district board must establish application procedures, eligibility and selection criteria, and accountability controls for grant recipients

Accountability controls must ensure grants are used consistent with providing medical care for indigent district residents and that the district receives a benefit from the awards

The district may use funds from any source to fund the grant program, effective September 1, 2025
