Establishes an annual 3% cost-of-living adjustment for death benefits paid to eligible spouses of first responders killed in the line of duty under the workers' compensation system

Requires insurance carriers to recompute death benefit amounts by January 1 of each year, applying the 3% adjustment to the standard death benefit (which is 75% of the employee's average weekly wage)

Applies specifically to spouses of first responders as described in Section 408.183(b-1) of the Labor Code

Applies only to death benefit payments made on or after January 1, 2026

Takes effect September 1, 2025
