Extends the expiration period for original driver's licenses from 8 years to 10 years for U.S. citizens, nationals, legal permanent residents, refugees, and asylees

Extends the expiration period for original driver's licenses issued to non-citizens/non-permanent residents from 6 years to 10 years (or the expiration of their lawful presence in the U.S., whichever is earlier)

Extends the renewal period for driver's licenses from 8 years to 10 years for all eligible license holders

Applies only to driver's licenses issued on or after the effective date; licenses issued before remain governed by prior law

Takes effect September 1, 2025
