Requires the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to screen pregnant inmates and those who gave birth within the past year for depression once each trimester during pregnancy, once within six weeks after giving birth, and at 6 and 12 months postpartum

Mandates the Commission on Jail Standards adopt rules requiring county jails to implement the same depression screening schedule for pregnant prisoners and those who gave birth in the preceding year as part of their health services plans

County jail health services plans must address medical care (including obstetrical and gynecological care), mental health care with the new depression screening requirements, nutritional requirements, and special housing or work assignment needs for pregnant prisoners

Commission on Jail Standards must adopt the required rules and procedures by December 1, 2025

Act takes effect September 1, 2025
