Designates August as Firearm Safety Awareness Month in Texas by adding Section 662.117 to the Government Code

Aims to increase awareness of firearm safety and encourage community discussions about safe and responsible ownership, storage, and use of firearms for recreational and defensive purposes

Promotes voluntary and collaborative methods to improve public safety related to firearms

Allows for observance through community activities, programs, and firearms accident prevention initiatives including animated videos, activity books, and instructional materials for all ages

Takes effect September 1, 2025
