Municipalities' authority to remove territory from emergency services districts and become the sole provider of emergency services to that territory expires September 1, 2025

Three specific special districts (Sections 8437, 9036, and 9042 of the Special District Local Laws Code) are exempted from the new expiration date and may continue disannexation processes under existing procedures

Strategic partnership agreements between water districts and municipalities that include fire-fighting services are also exempted from the expiration date, allowing continued disannexation from emergency services districts

Repeals Section 775.0235 of the Health and Safety Code

Takes effect September 1, 2025
