TX SB3008

Expands existing public school student transfer rights to include children of state and federal judges and justices in Texas, in addition to children of peace officers and servicemembers who already have this right

Requires school district boards of trustees to transfer eligible students to another campus within the district or to another school district upon request by a qualifying parent

Allows the qualifying parent to select which campus or school district their child will transfer to

Clarifies that "parent" includes any person standing in parental relation to the student

School districts are not required to provide transportation for students who transfer under this provision

Applies beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, with an effective date of September 1, 2025 (or immediately if passed with two-thirds majority)
