Adds "ethnic studies" to the required foundation curriculum for social studies in Texas public schools (kindergarten through grade 12), alongside existing subjects of Texas, United States, and world history, government, economics, and geography

Allows high school students to fulfill one of their three required social studies credits by taking ethnic studies as an alternative to world geography or world history

Applies only to students entering ninth grade during the 2026-2027 school year or later; students already in grades 10-12 during that year remain under previous requirements

Takes effect immediately with a two-thirds legislative vote, otherwise takes effect September 1, 2025
