Requires school district boards of trustees to adopt a policy allowing classroom teachers to choose whether to use their paid personal leave concurrently with unpaid Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave

Applies specifically to FMLA leave taken for pregnancy, birth of a child, or adoption of a child

Gives teachers the option to preserve their paid personal leave days rather than being required to use them during FMLA absences

Takes effect beginning with the 2025-2026 school year

Becomes effective immediately with two-thirds legislative vote, otherwise takes effect September 1, 2025
