TX SB420

Authorizes the Texas Secretary of State to order a new election in counties with a population of 2.7 million or more (currently only Harris County meets this threshold)

Requires the Secretary of State to order a new election if there is good cause to believe at least 2% of polling places ran out of usable ballots during voting hours and did not receive supplemental ballots within one hour of requesting them

Grants the Secretary of State the same authority as a district court under existing law (Section 231.007) to establish procedures for the new election

Requires expenses for any new election ordered under this provision to be paid by the same fund and authority that paid for the original election

Applies only to elections ordered on or after the effective date of September 1, 2025
